The very fact that I happen to be a Sci-fi fanatic completely had me engulfed in this slot. The graphics and visuals can be compared to that of a Star Wars or Star Trek movie. The three different shades of purple that colour the backdrops are luminous and crystal in their high definition clarity. The combination of the shimmering gold stars in the background makes you feel like you are sitting in the front of a large spaceship overlooking the stars. It’s quite glorious, especially for my sci-fi nerd palate. I almost forgot I signed up to play a slot and this is credit to developers, NetEnt for coming through with a spectacular design and flawless use of colours. Starburst keeps thing simple with just 5 reels and 10 paylines, but with everything going on in this game I completely get why NetEnt opted for this structure.
How Popular is Starburst Slot in South Africa?
Starburst is quite popular in South Africa and this mostly owed to its rankings around the world. Since its release in 2012, Starburst became a slot that you just couldn’t ignore. It’s not possible to be a regular slot enthusiast and not have heard of Starburst, especially if you are part of gambling forums and chatrooms. The slot has a massive following and South African players are certainly not immune to the hype, myself included.
My Experience with Starburst Slot
I really like this slot! It has everything I require from a Sci-fi themed slot such as action, adventure, and thrill on the reels. This is owed to its incredible use of features and functions. For a slot of its magnitude though I was hoping for a bigger payout in terms of the jackpot, which sits at a mere 250 coins. However, the fact that winning combos can be formed without me praying to gods and making burnt sacrifices, allows me to overlook this flaw. I quite enjoyed the multi-coloured stars that appeared on the second, third and fourth reels, not only did they look good, they helped me to form some winning combinations.
Bonuses, Gameplay, Variance
As I mentioned earlier, NetEnt kept things simple with respect to paylines and its probably because the activities on the reels are lit, both figuratively and literally. The 10 paylines pay out both ways which makes it easier to score more wins on lower bets, which is something I certainly appreciate in this low variance slot. The multi-coloured stars I mentioned before act as the wild symbol in the game and are also the highlight feature as they substitute other symbols for more winning combinations. They also expand and can cover the entire reel which means more winning lines!
To be honest, I expected to like Startburst, I just didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. The visuals and design were what attracted me to the slot, but the way that NetEnt incorporated all of the slot’s features, especially the wild symbol is what kept me playing. The way the wilds were designed to stack and expand had me wishing for more wilds on the reels, obviously to form my winning combinations, but also to see that graphics in action. Starburst really does have it all and its not a game that will soon slip through cracks of my memories.
